Christ is Risen! He's risen indeed!
Here are some ideas for keeping the focus on Jesus during our holiest days.

Resurrection Rolls
Roll a marshmallow in butter, then in a cinnamon-sugar mix. Talk about how the body of Jesus was prepared for burial.
Wrap the marshmallow in a crescent roll. Talk about how the body of Jesus was put in a rich man's tomb that was nearby.
Bake the rolls as described on the crescent dough package. Brush with melted butter and more cinnamon and sugar. Talk about how Jesus was in the tomb for three days.
When you bite into it, the middle of the crescent roll will be empty. The marshmallow is gone. Talk about how the tomb of Jesus was and still is empty. Jesus is alive!

He Is Risen Bingo
This bingo game has 15 bingo boards and a set of cards. There are several ways to play.
Level 1: Call out the answer and then read the description. Players mark that item on their boards if they have it.
Level 2: Read the description and see if players can tell what the answer is. Then after some think time, say the answer. Then players mark the answer on their boards if they have it.
Level 3: Read the description. Players can only mark the answer on their board if they know what the answer is.
We use religious erasers as board markers. You can also laminate your boards and use a marker to mark off the answers. Don't forget to mark the free He Is Risen space in the middle!

He Is Risen Match It.
In this matching game, distribute 1 card face-up in front of each player. The rest of the cards are placed face down in the middle of the group. One person turns the top card in the stack over so it is face-up in the middle of the group. Players look on their own cards and identify the item that is on their own card and the card in the middle. The first player to call out the item that is the same takes the card from the middle and places it on top of his/her own card. Turn the next card in the stack face-up and continue playing until all the cards stacked in the middle of the group are gone. The player with the most cards wins.
*Players who do not know what an item is (like the trees for the Garden of Gethsemane) can call out a description of the item (trees) instead of the name of the item (Garden of Gethsemane).

*Print the first 2 pages front/back and see how the card backs line up. If your printer settings are too different, you might need to only print one side of the cards.
*The blank card is the title card. |
Empty Tomb Hunt
Take a cardboard egg carton and cut out the bottom sections that hole eggs. Now you have 12 empty tombs. Hide the tombs around the yard for children to find. When one is found yell, "He is risen" or "Praise the Lord!" Talk about how the tomb of Jesus was empty because Jesus is alive.
For older kids, also talk about how Jesus was just the first person, the first fruits, of the resurrected. One day, when Jesus comes back, we will rise to be with Him, and all of the tombs of believers will be empty.
If desired you can give children a treat after finding all the empty tombs. We give our children one box of candy and a religious book.
