The Unmerciful Servant
This parable is taken from Matthew 20:1-16. There are several lessons for us to learn from the parable of the workers in the vineyard. When reading this book, discuss the attitude of the workers who were hired first. Although they knew they would be paid one denarius, they expected more when the other men got paid the same. They grumbled against the owner of the vineyard because he was so generous. Jesus said this parable is like the kingdom of heaven. All who trust in Jesus will go to heaven, no matter how long they have believed in him. Although not in the context of the scripture, you can relate this idea to being grateful for what God gives us, and not being upset when other people have good things.
