Social Studies
Social studies includes our community, government, history, and more. You can teach social studies as a part of a bigger project, just like the other subjects. Here are a few ideas:
- Get involved in current elections. How does voting work? Why do we vote?
- When studying weather, learn about meteorologists.
- When studying physics, learn about Albert Einstein and other scientists.
- When studying clothes and how they affect our body temperatures, learn about who makes clothes, where clothes are made, and how the manufacture of clothes affects the economy.
- When reading about historical events, be sure the sources reflect the point of view you want. Different countries have different takes on war events. Different authors tell varying degrees of religious convictions of historical people. Be sure to preview texts to ensure they convey your desired point of view.
